Anita Ward, 91, of Galesburg, IL formerly Iroquois, IL passed away on August 16, 2018.
She was born on September 7, 1926 in Martinton, IL, the daughter of Albert Kempen and Leonide (Benoit) Kempen.
Anita married Robert Ward on July 10, 1943 in Martinton, IL.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, and Big 10 basketball. Anita was a long time member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, a thirty-five year member of the election board, Red Cross blood donor/volunteer, and a community of Iroquois volunteer.
Surviving Mrs. Ward is one son, Mitchel and Mary-Jo Ward of Williamsburg, VA; two daughters, Lonita and John Burger of Omaha, NE, and Judith and Gary Morgan of Abingdon, IL; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, David; four sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 10a-11a, at St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Watseka, IL.
Funeral Mass will be held following visitation at the church at 11:00 am. Father Powell will officiate.
Burial will take place at Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Ward's name can be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church of St. Jude's.
