Bernard Fay “Tater” Tatro, 92, of Watseka, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015.
He was born March 11, 1923 in Iroquois Township, the son of Herman Tatro and Eva (Matthew) Tatro.
Bernard married Anita Baron in Ashkum, Illinois at the Assumption Church on June 4, 1955.
Mr. Tatro owned and operated Tatro Plumbing & Heating in Watseka for 62 years. He was also the Watseka City Inspector and Code Enforcement. He enjoyed Plumbing & Heating and being employed by Watseka as the city inspector, all of which he did until he was 90 years old. He also loved mowing and landscaping as well.
Surviving Mr. Tatro are three sons and daughter-in-laws: Dr. Jeffrey A. and Karen Tatro of St. Louis, MO, Robert “Bob” and Pamela “Pam” Tatro of Leadville, CO, Randy S. and Kim Tatro of Watseka, one daughter: Kathy N. Lawrence and Daniel Cahoe of Woodland, Il; one brother-in-law: Weldon “Dick” Taden of Bourbonnais; ten grandchildren: Monica and Matt Ehrhardt of Monument, CO, Kelsey and Marcus Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO, Tyler Long & fiancé Brittany Weaver of Denver, CO, Joshua Long of Denver, CO, Taylor Tatro of Champaign, IL, Parker Tatro of St. Louis, MO, Preston Tatro of St. Louis, MO, Heather Harper of Watseka, Dana Harper of Watseka, Brooke Butler of Watseka; one great-grandchild: Nellie Marie Ehrhardt of Monument, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by: both parents, Herman and Eva Tatro; wife, Anita Tatro; twin brother, Bernald Tatro; two sister-in-laws, Charlotte Tatro and Patricia "Patty” Taden.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 4-8pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:00am, at St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Watseka. Father Michael Powell will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Ashkum Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum, Illinois.
