Eric "Rick" Reder, 70, of Antioch, Illinois, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while traveling back to Illinois from a family function in Colorado on September 15, 2015. He was born in Watseka, Illinois on April 20, 1945 to August and Gertrude Reder. Rick was a loving brother, uncle and friend. In his youth he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, but anybody who was familiar with Rick knew his greatest love was fishing. Recently he was involved in a program in which he took wounded veterans out on his boat for a day of fishing. Rick retired as a machinist in 2011.
Rick is survived by his brothers Paul (Linde) Reder of Falcon, Colorado; Phillip (Mary) Reder of Penrose, Colorado; and Kurt (Martie) Reder of Deer Trail, Colorado; nephews Kyle Reder of Brighton, Colorado and Justis Reder of Falcon, Colorado; niece Kayla (Jason) Wilton of Parker, Colorado; and aunts Elsie Reder and Leona Vitous of Watseka, Illinois; Marie Fischer of Clearwater, Florida; cousins Lois Ann Thomas of Farmverville, Louisiana; Robert Fischer of Corpus Christi, Texas; Patricia Ellingham of Clearwater, Florida; and Greg (Cathy) Vitous of Kentland Indiana; and nine second and third cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, August and Gertrude Reder, sister Jeanne Reder-Pasetta, cousin Phyllis Reder, uncles Robert Fischer and Fritz Reder, and aunt Ella Case.
Rick's sudden passing is a great loss to all and he will be deeply missed.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 12:00 pm until Funeral Services at 2:00 pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, Illinois. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka, Illinois. Rev. Paul Koester will officiate.
