Gaylord (Gene) Osterhous

Gaylord (Gene) Osterhous, age 81, of Woodland, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017. He was born in Watseka on October 25, 1935, the son of Peter and Matilda (Hurling) Osterhous. Gene married Gayle Ifland on June 12, 1956 in Watseka, Illinois. He was a farmer and retired after 25 years as pest control technician at Shapiro Development Center, formerly known as Kankakee State Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois. Gene was a 50 year member of the Illinois State Stock Horse Association. He enjoyed raising horses, horseback riding, camping and spending time with his family. Survivors are two sons – Robert (Debbie) Osterhous and Danny (Melanie) Osterhous; Grandchildren – Ashley (Troy) Odgers, Kayla (Andy) Manos, Mindi (Andy) Walton and Jessica (AJ) Kingdon; Great-grandchildren – Corbin Walton and Owen Kingdon. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Gayle and his sister June Rudisill. Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
