James “JR” Martin, 71, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
He was born on December 10, 1945 in Columbus, Kentucky, the son of James Martin and Josie (Swartz) Martin.
James married Nellie Anderson on December 14, 1963.
Mr. Martin worked as waste water management for the City of Watseka for 37 years, as well as working as maintenance for Iroquois Federal for 50 years. He enjoyed landscaping and playing slot machines.
Surviving Mr. Martin is one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Flora Martin of Watseka; one daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Jeff Bell of Watseka; sisters and brother-in-law, June Kilgore of Watseka, and Patricia and Jim Bennett of Watseka; two grandchildren, Codey Martin of Charleston, IL and Tanner Martin of Watseka; two great-grandchildren, Brantley Martin of Watseka, and a boy on the way from Charleston, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Dorothy Alvarado; and three brothers, Jerry Martin, Kenneth Martin, and Stevie Martin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 5p to 8pm, at Baier Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Baier Funeral Home. Another visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Pastor Joseph Hughes will officiate.
Burial will follow at the GAR Cemetery in Watseka, IL.
